While the company is on the lookout on how to bring down and slash out the cost of battery, it is now certainly using lighter material for large vehicles just to cope up with the production costs. As of now, Ford’s top selling model of F-150 pick-up truck is getting light materials and improved fuel economy efficiency.

Ford’s spokesperson had explained that the electrical components for larger vehicles are costlier and that Ford is doing everything to cut costs without compromising the quality and performance of their pick-up truck series and slowing the production for a short while will help in boosting their focus on fuel economy for its pick-ups and trucks. Last year, Ford made a team-up with Toyota Motors Company in building hybrid trucks and SUVs. With this partnership, Ford is hoping to bring down the cost challenge for both companies.

Alan Mullay further added that car owners are still holding from buying hybrid versions due to the high price tag of these low-emission vehicles. The battery used in Ford Focus Electric has a cost around $15,000 and this is too high for ordinary and average people to own. However, Ford is expecting to see an increase in hybrid cars again even when the gas price continues to rise.

With the high cost of building electric-powered cars, Ford is now bending its focus on producing the same version for their sedan and compact cars. The company’s reason for this stoppage of production is to cut the costs of building or manufacturing the hybrid versions.

Allan Mullaly, Ford’s CEO while talking with the reporters in downtown Los Angeles said that Ford is trying to bring the production in the same assembly line to curb the high costs of the hybrid versions of Ford sedan and compact cars and the company is slowing down its production of larger vehicles. Mullay likewise disclosed that the high cost of the batteries in these hybrids and larger vehicles is causing Ford to take a slow production route.

Answering to the higher demands on fuel economy cars, Ford started focusing on fuel economy vehicles and delivered fuel economy cars for its loyal followers. Fuel economy efficiency is the core of Ford’s strategic move to take the top spot in car sales. It has successfully regained its top slot for its much-improved global sales in the first quarter of 2012

Generally, trucks are being bought by many people because the benefits that one can get from it come in high multitudes. Trucks are reliable in terms of total functionality. As time passed by, the hybrid car technology has been applied to the trucks too and this was the term hybrid truck was coined.

As of these days, two giant motor companies – the Honda and Toyota have joined together in the launching of their much anticipated hybrid trucks. And this time around, the introduction of hybrid cars and trucks to the global market has created a deep concern on many buyers: whether or not to buy a hybrid car and shift to hybrid trucks instead. Whatever you have on your mind, make sure to take time and do your own planning whenever you wish to buy either of the two hybrid vehicles.

The prices of car fuels and gasoline are going higher and higher each day and this is a very bad thing for car owners. However, the rising and falling of oil prices is not surprising anymore as gasoline is considered as the most volatile product in the world market today. Basically, the never ending volatility of oil prices in the market is caused by the never ending conflicts in the Middle East.

In this regard, people are so watchful of the upcoming rise of gasoline prices each day. Another concern is the environmental effects of fuel combustion particularly on traditional cars are actually raising the eye brows of the concerned environmentalists along with their advocates.

The Hybrid Cars

Hybrid cars are usually known as the vehicles of the future. In fact, there are many other reasons why hybrid cars earned such a reputation. Of course, one of the facts that are evident to hybrid cars is their appealing exteriors. They are also economical, practical, and efficient cars so many people from all around the world make it a point to hybrid cars for themselves.

Hybrid cars are being produced by giant motor companies in the world such as Ford, Honda, and Toyota. In terms of aesthetics, hybrid cars look more appealing compared to the traditional cars. However, hybrid cars are more expensive compared to their traditional counterparts.

Fuel prices are on the rise and the situation in the Middle East is not helping the situation in any way. On top of auto news everywhere, car manufacturers have come up with hybrid cars, vehicles designed to burn less or zero fossil fuels. One fine example of these hybrid cars is the Toyota Prius, which comes in many fuel consumption combinations. Mercedes Benz, Volvo, and other high end car makers are also coming up with their own hybrid versions.
However, hybrid cars are amazingly expensive as expected because of all the research and novel technology put into their production. Nevertheless, if you are still stuck with your traditional car, you can still save a large amount of cash and gas at the same time. Here are a few tips on how to do that.
Always make sure that your car gets its scheduled regular tune up. A poorly conditioned car eats up more gas by as much as 30% compared to properly tuned up ones.
Plan your daily trips as well as your long trips. As much as possible, practice car pooling and map out your route so you do not have to double back because you missed out dropping off or picking up something or someone. Adjust your driving start time by as much as an hour especially if the route that you are going to take is notoriously tight in traffic.
Use your car air conditioning system wisely. Turn it on until such time that the inside of the car gets cool enough and then switch it to low cool to maintain temperature. Avoid using the air conditioner while the windows are open.
When driving at high speeds, make sure that all your windows are tightly closed. When there are open spots in the car, drag is produced which lowers down the distance that you can cover with the same amount of gas. Using your air conditioner is more cost effective at high speeds than open windows.
This you should never forget. Never forget to check your tire pressure before traveling especially when you intend to drive long distance. Over and under-inflated tires can dramatically reduce your fuel efficiency so make sure that you have the right amount of air inside your tires.
Take the time out to inspect the items inside your car and remove unnecessary items such as snow chains when its summertime.

Odyne, in attracting fleet owners to shift brands and models has posted a 3-minute video featuring Odyne’s latest generation of hybrid system of medium and heavy-duty trucks. With this video, Odyne is set to inform fleet owners and truck drivers how its latest can be a good replacement for their old fleet and how it can be the best alternative buy for new fleet of heavy-duty workhorse.

Odyne has been a pioneer in hybrid system for trucks of medium and heavy-duty category and has been working hard to produce hybrid system that will reduce operating cost and will compliment to the environment issues. Odyne”s Matt Jarmuz acting as its Sales Director has disclosed the new system is far more powerful than the previous Odyne system. It is lighter and smaller but powerful enough to answer the demands of work trucks applications. He described the system as having numerous scaled truck equipment that is designed to reduce up to fifty percent of fuel consumption, with little or less emission and more quiet workhorse during operation.

Odyne’s new hybrid power system has Remy’s HVH250 electric motor for more power-packed density and efficiency. It has Johnson Controls respected battery technology using lithium-ion while Launch assist gives powerful acceleration as well as for turning and uphill driving. It has regenerative braking for its recharging and braking in drive cycles making the truck robust for another extended load of works. The system provides the heating and air conditioning while the truck is off from work. Class 6, and 7 as well as class 8 trucks can be retrofitted with the system units.

Odyne is optimistic that fleet owners who will see the video will have to think about making changes for their fleet. With its reputation as a leader in the industry of hybrid drive system for trucks, it can bring their avid believers into purchasing trucks with these new hybrid drive system. The new system is a new generation of Odyne’s system that will serve as the answer to the hybrid challenge facing the truck industry known as the best hybrid power solution for medium and heavy-duty trucks.

Yes, it is true; most American pickup trucks are gas guzzlers, burning more fuel than is necessary. However, not anymore with the advent of the latest technology in vehicle production – hybrid trucks. The idea for hybrid trucks was hatched because of the clamor for more environment-friendly vehicles. Let us take a look at a few hybrid trucks that are available in the market right now.
The four-seater Toyota A-BAT is a hybrid truck that is equipped with a four-footer rear bed and solar panels mounted on the roof. The solar panels are the ones responsible in bringing electrical power to the accessories onboard the vehicle instead of sucking it up from the fuel. This truck is one of the most versatile power vehicles I have ever run into and it can carry any type of heavy load that you can load on its bed, be it lumber or steel. The interior is also amazingly roomy with sleek styling that can match a luxury car’s interior.
The Chevy Silverado 2.0 Hybrid and the GMC Sierra Hybrid have hit the stores last year. Both cars boast of fuel savings of up to 25%, which is more than enough for a three tonner.

Chevy Silverado 2.0 Hybrid

Yes, it does not match the savings that you get from a Prius but you cannot also load logs on the Prius. Dodge Ram, not to be outdone, is using the same power train as the ones installed in the GM trucks, which mean you get the same amount of savings on fuel consumption.
Those who have driven 1970 and 1980 model trucks will really appreciate the way these new hybrid trucks run. The new Silverado for example looks menacingly like a true truck yet it drives like an SUV, smooth and silent. Chevy engineers made sure that the mid body of the truck is cushioned with hydraulics support, which made bumpy roads, seem like a ride on the moon. The reaction of the drivers was so positive GM made sure that all their pickup trucks had the same structural design. The break system is also topnotch for the Silverado since they are electronically calibrated to bring the truck to a full stop when necessary. The truck is equipped with the standard four wheel disc brakes, and they are also supplemented with the hydraulic regenerative brakes, which utilizes the electric motors to store the brakes energy inside the batteries.

The technology for hydraulic hybrid trucks is forging ahead in specific front series in account to its commercial success in the creation of parcel delivery trucks and garbage trucks.

As of now, the focus has been mainly attributed to the daily performance of these heavier cars wherein the high-powered fluid technology shines as the best. In account to this, laying all the groundwork to shift the technology to lighter types of vehicles has been made possible.

In the present year, there is big news that has exploded from the Environmental Protection Agency and Chrysler Company. This news entails about the big break offered to hydraulic hybrid truck technology. This is actually an agreement to adapt and develop for the light vehicle technology for the current market.

The agreement between Environment Protection Agency and Chrysler speaks of a partnership goal to move the hydraulic technology from the laboratory to the streets. In account to this, a Chrysler minivan will be designed and serving as a model or a form of demonstration vehicle.

There is a great expectation to these hydraulic hybrid trucks. For one, they are expected to come up with an increased efficiency in terms of fuel consumption. In fact fuel efficiency is expected to get on its way to save from thirty to thirty five percent with regards to overall driving and up to sixty percent for city driving. In addition to this, the overall emissions for greenhouse gas have also been reduced by whopping twenty five percent.

Sergio Marchionne, the Chrysler Group’s chief executive, on Wednesday at the E.P.A.’s Ann Arbor, Mich., lab.

This is good news for countries that are using the conventional trucks that provide them with many environmental problems and hazards, not to mention the extra cost of fuels, which are spent, on the day-to-day driving.

Now that the world is facing many environmental concerns, it is a smart idea to comply with the proposal of environment Protection Agency and Chrysler. In fact, the idea was something bright and would surely make good results eventually. Definitely, many countries around the world will surely come up with the hydraulic hybrid trucks, which the tandem has presented.

For everyone’s information, environment Protection Agency or EPA is known to be the leader in the development of hydraulic hybrid trucks and other forms of hydraulic technologies. EPA has been working with giant manufacturers of hybrid trucks like Parker Hannifin and Parker. For sure, this is definitely one of the best innovations in terms of hybrid trucks today.

It features the most excellent fuel economy with its all-electric power driving. The full-scale pickup hybrid truck takes pride of its fuel efficiency of 22-mpg in the freeway. The Silverado is fully-equipped with the elite 2-mode hybrid system presented by GM. It is a combination of the electric power system and a 6-liter V8 engine prototype. The new hybrid pickup boasts a 332hp with 367 lb-ft of torque. The 2-mode system is greatly responsible for saving considerable amount of fuel. Both features are capable of producing enough power to sustain the maximum speed of the hybrid truck.
The exceptional 300-volt battery is capable of generating a sufficient amount of electricity for the Silverado’s power consumption. The primary role of the electric power is to keep the fuel consumption at a certain level. According to the reports, the electricity is fully-maximized when the hybrid truck is coasting. The Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid truck features a massive 98-liter tank fuel. Hence, the driving range could reach up to 500 miles. The application of brakes is also one of the factors in producing the electric power for the pickup.
The Silverado’s Active Fuel Management system is one of the largest components in the truck’s fuel economy. It follows a combustion process, which is also called the Atkinson cycle. It lessens the pumping losses during the process with its late intake valve closing attribute. Meanwhile, the truck’s motor engine is typically powered by a regular unleaded gasoline. Overall, fuel economy is the top priority of the Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid truck. It focuses on the main source of power to create a high-performance vehicle. The Silverado’s hybrid technology is the primary solution in order to achieve relentless fuel efficiency.
There are several other highlights of the Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid truck including the striking chrome wheels, a complete sound system courtesy of Bose, Onstar and Bluetooth features, and a whole lot more. Unlike a typical road truck, the Silverado is often referred to as a luxury sedan. It comes with numerous customary features that are fully-functional. The realization of the new hybrid truck had finally arrived with the new Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid. The good news is that the GM warranty covers the entire hybrid component together with the battery. As of today, Silverado Hybrid is the only gas-electric hybrid truck available in the worldwide market.

General Motors is the major manufacturer of hybrid trucks. Starting in 2008 with the GMC Sierra and the Chevrolet Silverado, General Motors have offered other hybrid truck variants in its other sports utilities and truck models including the Cadillac Escalade, the GMC Yukon, and the Chevrolet Tahoe.

If you are on the lookout for hybrid trucks, you have to keep in mind that although your objective is to save money on fuel consumption, the prices of these vehicles are amazingly high compared to a gasoline-powered truck. And if you read the latest forums on hybrid trucks, there is a segment in the market claiming that there is very little discrepancy in the usage of city fuel between single engine trucks compared to the hybrid ones. And in the open highway, gas consumption between the two truck variants are absolutely the same.

Nevertheless, the models made for the hybrid variants have more powerful engines than the gas guzzlers. The Chevy Silverado, for example, come in 5.3 liter or 6.2 liter V8 models. These engines can rev up to more than 400 horsepower per 417 lb-ft of torque. According to the Environment protection Agency, the hybrid truck Silverado model would consume only $1850 worth of fuel whereas the conventional Silverado would have used almost $3000 on fuel depending on certain settings.
But, the hybrid truck is considerably more expensive than the conventional one to the tune of five thousand big ones. Performance may be a bit high with the hybrids but who needs extra power when you are caught up in traffic.

However, as far as the environment goes, hybrids combine the power of the gas engine and the clean energy coming from the electric motor which by and large minimizes the expulsion of more carbon monoxide into the air that we breathe. With lower gas usage, comes better mileage. At one point, using hybrids can entitle an owner to tax benefits and there are a lot of purchase incentives when you opt to go for vehicles equipped with hybrid engines. The incentives vary for each state.

The hybrid field looks bright with all the clamor for a cleaner, greener environment. In fact, even Formula 1 officials are about to set a new set of guidelines promoting green cars in their races. And that is the reason why the hybrid technology is continuously being fine-tuned for the next generation cars.
